Happy New Year, folks! I know I am a little late to the party but I'm getting in on the yearly tradition of making grandiose promises to ourselves that we're probably not going to keep. That's right, it is time for new year resolutions, but no I won't be boring you with a revolutionary workout routine. My resolutions are a bit more personal and a whole lot more measurable. So here is what I'm doing for my resolutions, and I hope you all hit your goals this year too.
Breaking 80 on the golf course: This resolution is for all you golf enthusiasts out there. For those that don't play, I can assure you it is a frustrating game, but it's also a lot of fun. Throughout my life my game has gone through many changes, some good and some very bad. I have broken 80 before but it has been a while, so I thought it would be a challenging goal but one that is still attainable. Plus, it is important to make goals that can be measured in some way so that you can monitor and appreciate your successes. Perfection is not the goal, but improvement is!
Traveling to another country: This resolution is definitely cheating a bit as my fiance's family is planning to take us to Ireland... that said, I have not traveled much in my life so it has been on the list for a while, and this year is the year I cross it off. We all have a list of places we want to visit but somehow never seem to get around to it. This year, I encourage everyone to make it a priority to see the world. Whether it's lounging on a beautiful beach or exploring an ancient city, traveling to another country will give you a new perspective on life and maybe give you a taste for what others cultures have to offer. I'm hoping to play golf in Ireland and kill two birds with one stone.
Becoming conversational in sign language: This resolution is another "copy & paste" from last year's list that unfortunately went by the wayside...I will say, I have learned a few things and can pick up on some spelling here and there, but now I am determined to master it. There's nothing quite like the feeling of being able to communicate with someone who might otherwise be cut off from the world. Learning sign language will not only give me a new way to communicate but also help to break down barriers and create a more inclusive society.
So, there they are fam, my top 3 resolutions for the 2023. They may not be as "popular" as the usual gym membership or fad diet, but they are definitely more fulfilling. Remember, you never know what tomorrow brings or when it's going to be the right time, so make this year the one where you do the things you've been waiting to. Happy New Year!
